#1. Nirvana
Nirvana
Genre: Grunge, Alternative, Punk Rock, Noise Rock
Biggest Hit: "Smells Like Teen Spirit"
My favourite song: "Smells Like Teen Spirit"
I love Nirvana for their sound, their message, and their lyrics. The lyrics are about alienation, depression, women's rights, the problem with rape, and racism. Their message is that we are all equal.
The guy with the guitar on his lap, Kurt Cobain, is my hero! but he committed suicide in 1994... The most tragic death of all time, in my opinion...
Smells Like Teen Spirit was ranked the 6th Greatest Song of All Time & the #1 Song of the 90s

#3. Sunny Day Real Estate
Sunny Day Real Estate
Genre: Alternative, Grunge, Soft Core Punk
Biggest Hit: Seven
My favourite song: "In Circles"
Although you can't quite decipher this guy's lyrics, you can always completely tell what he's talking about, feel empathetic towards it and know it's as intense as hell. His voice is perfect, the music is cleanly sordid, and I've never heard a song by them that I don't like!

Genre: Rap-Rock, Funk Rock, Alternative, Party Rock
Biggest Hit: "Under the Bridge"
My favourite song: "Californication"
Their song "Under the Bridge" shows a softer side to their party hard music while "Give It Away" is definitely a party rock song.
Their old guitarist, John Frusciante, that recorded the "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" album with the group is possibly the greatest guitarist of all time.
They have a great sound! No one can imitate it!

#6. Mudhoney
Mudhoney
Genre: Grunge, Hardcore Punk, Post-Punk
Biggest Hit: "Touch Me I'm Sick"
My favourite song: "Sweet Young Thing (Ain't Sweet No More)"
A lot of bands claim to be "Punk Rock this" and "Punk Rock that," well, Mudhoney was Punk Rock this and Grunge Rock that.
Along with Soundgarden, Mudhoney created the Seattle Sound, otherwise known as: Grunge. Nirvana is credited with the creation for some reason. They just made it famous, but Mudhoney made it by breeding sounds of Hardcore Punk, Classic Rock, Heavy-Metal, abrasive distortion, heavy drumming, and lyrics about alienation and depression.
Singer/Guitarist/Song-Writer, Mark Arm (pictured above), is one of my biggest inspirations in stage performance.

Genre: Alternative, Art Rock, 2000's New Wave

#8. The Offspring
The Offspring
Genre: Punk Rock, Alternative
Biggest Hit: "Come Out & Play (Keep 'em Separated)"
My favourite song: "Gone Away"
They aren't exactly Punk Rock, they are a Comedy/Punk/Alternative Rock band, which has proven to be a good mix. And they have more of a mainstream sound, so they aren't really too Punk Rock.
Their singer, Dexter Holland (pictured on the left) is an awesome singer and song-writer.
Holland formed the band when he got mad at a bouncer that wouldn't let him into a punk rock club to watch Social Distortion play, because the bouncer said he wasn't "punk rock enough." So Holland decided he'd show that bouncer who's the most punk rock. Holland succeeded.

Alice In Chains
Genre: Grunge
Biggest Hit: "Man In the Box"
My favourite song: "Would?"
A.I.C. is awesome, PERIOD! They are the most under-rated Grunge band EVER!
Their singer, Layne Staley, & bassist, Mike Starr, both died of drug overdoses... Sadly...
Layne Staley is my all time favourite singer.
They tried to replace Layne with William DuVall, but it's caused them to lose a lot of fans doing this.
